The Family Vacation: The Good, The Bad and the Ugly

So we did go on our family vacation. After much discussion, argument and negotiation we went to…Turkey!

Blue Mosque - Istanbul

Yep, we spent 4 nights in Istanbul, 2 nights in a cave hotel in Cappadocia and 6 nights at a seaside resort in Bodrum.

First of all the good – the incredibly fresh and tasty food, the hot air ballooning at sunrise,

Cappadocia

the fascinating historical sites, the friendly people, the varied and exotic shopping.

Spice Bazaar in Istanbul

I could go on and on.

Now for the bad – early morning travel days, crying babies on planes,

pouting teenagers and my husband panicking and stressing over insignificant details.

The ugly?  – my daughter, the Demon Child, clashing with my husband, the Original Obnoxious One over the silliest, tiniest inconsequential “stuff” . Of course that led to a major family temper tantrum the day before my birthday.

Ah well…we all made it home in one piece and did share some amazing moments along the way.

Gulet off the coast of Bodrum

Really.
